ACTON BRIDGE PARISH COUNCIL

Minutes of the meeting held on Monday 3rd March 2008

Apologies for absence have been received from Messrs S Pardoe, J Oliver, M Hodgson and S Critchley.

1. Public Matters

No members of the village in attendance.
Miss Hayley Collins, of the Northwich Guardian attended. The Chairman welcomed her and congratulated her on the article she wrote on Robert Gleaves presentation.

2. Minutes

Minutes of meeting held on 4th February 08 were accepted & signed.

3. Matters Arising.

a) Bus Shelter. Mrs Bayley reported that there was to be a site visit the following week by Mr A Thompson of VRBC.
b) Speeding. No news as yet.
c) Oak tree. Station Rd. VRBC has responded and the site has been inspected. The tree is to be retained and there are no plans to remove it. VRBC will monitor.
d) Wind Farm. There is to be a pre-inspection meeting. No evidence will be taken at the meeting.
e) Re-organization of Cheshire has not been finalized as yet. Votes can be taken on-line.
f) A litter pickers pack has been received.
g) Network Rail. No news at the moment.
h) Railway Station. Mrs Bayley reported that she is very disappointed with John Hulme as he has not responded yet. Mrs Bayley will write to the Managing Director of London Midland. The new man at the Nursery, Station Rd will put weed killer down and has offered plants at a reduced price. Planters can be obtained from VRBC at no cost.
i) Best Kept Village competition. Acton Bridge has been entered again. Mrs Bayley to be reimbursed of cost (£23).
k) Cheshire West & Chester meeting on March 20th to be attended by Mr R Holt & Mr D Evans.
m) CCC Small grants - Mr S Pardoe has applied for grant. Maps to be printed of footpaths.
n) Cluster meeting. A & B roads Kingsley to Hartford to be looked at concerning speeding.
o) The destruction of grass verges throughout the village. These are being ruined by large lorries and tractors. Highways Dept to be contacted.

4. Planning Applications

New entrance walls and gates Field House, Cliff Lane. for Mr D G Cornwell. Although there were no real objections it was felt that the proposed gates and wall are obtrusive in a rural area.

5. Planning Decisions

None.

None.

a) E Mail. All Highways problems are to be dealt with at the Customer Access Centre, Middlewich.
b) Hacker Young letter thanking ABPC for cooperation whilst they have been acting as external auditors to Acton Bridge.

10. Village Matters

The licensee at the Hazel Pear has informed the PC that there is now a container at the rear of the pub for cardboard that cannot be recycled in the brown bins.
